Dr. Akhil Mishra is in medical practice for the last 55 years
He is presently working as Sr. Consultant, Nephrology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
He established the Department of Nephrology and Transplant at Apollo Hospital in 1995.
He has 40 years of experience in the field of Nephrology.
Prior to this, he was working in the Army Medical Corps for 28 years (1965-1993) where he held the position of Senior Advisor in Medicine and Nephrology.
He conducted the First Kidney Transplant in the Armed Forces at the Army Hospital, Delhi way back in 1991.
Dr. Mishra took premature retirement at the rank of full Colonel in 1993. He then joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospital at its very inception in 1995 where he is still working.
Awarded Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) by the President of India in 1980.
Life Time achievement Award in Nephrology by the Indian Society of Nephrology (N.Z) on 23rd Jan.2015 for his immense contribution to the growth of Nephrology.
Honoured by His Holiness The Dalia Lama for his dedicated work in the field of Kidney transplantation.
Awarded National Health Leadership Award in August, 2016.
Arogya Ratna Award by Arogya Darpan National Health Magazine for the year 2019.
Dr. Mishra is a member of the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh for the last 35 years. He is at present a member on the board of management of the society.
He is a keen and regular golfer.
He is very fit, energetic and God willing will serve his patients for years to come
