Dr Sumanto Mukhopadhyay is an expert in structural heart disease and complex coronary intervention. He is the first trained structural interventionist in entire eastern India. Previously he worked as a consultant in St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London (largest cardiac centre in UK) and has performed more than 1000 TAVI/ TAVR and 300 mitral and Tricuspid edge to edge repair procedures (Mitraclip/ Triclip) and numerous percutaneous mitral, tricuspid and pulmonary valve implantations spanning over 4 years. He also specialises in the treatment of adult congenital heart disease like ASD, PDA PFO, Coarctation and structural intervention like paravalvular leak closure post and left atrial appendage occlusion. He was among the only two operators in UK who use electrosurgery to facilitate TAVI / TMVI in extremely high-risk patients.

 He is regularly invited across UK and India to proctor for TAVI, PPVI and Mitraclip and has proctored in the most prestigious and advanced centres including Royal Brompton & Harefield, Liverpool, Hammersmith, Belfast, Dublin, Nottingham. He has numerous international publications and has been invited as a faculty for live case demonstration (EURO PCR, AICT Asia, TMT UK) and teaching the pearls of structural intervention (PCR London valves). He is also an international investigator for many new trials and innovative devices (ENCIRCLE, COLIBRI, EXPAND 2, BHF Protect).
